Focus is Learning What to Phase Out

Each online product and service requires a good level of maintenance effort to keep it secure and up-to-date. Hence, in order to streamline and to focus our efforts on what's important we have decided to phase out one of our products and some tools.

Website builder was a product that we designed to build dhivehi websites as a do it yourself site. However customers found it a bit technical and the product needed to be completely redesigned. Plus the amount of customers registered for the service was not enough to sustain the project, surely we tried. The currently registered clients can use the service as is and they will be slowly migrated to an alternative service and we will not be updating and promoting this service anymore.

Among the tools that are phased out includes:

Music Mix - a music playlist generator developed for in-house use.

Photo/Video Gallery for sharing in-house and clients photos and videos, we will be replacing this by GDrive.

Documentation Server for admin and user manuals of our products will be replaced by GDocs.

Placeholder image generator was heavily used in mockup building, however today all design works at this stage has been moved to Figma and Penpot, hence we haven't used this for a while now, so has been completely phased out.

Chat Server demanded a lot of maintenance effort and so has been replaced by other messaging services.

People think focus means saying yes to the thing you've got to focus on. But that's not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I'm actually as proud of the things we haven't done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.
